18th Annual Field Day

This year’s event will be directed toward the brand new and novice beekeeper. With lots of breakout sessions for learning basic skills. Our main speaker will be Denzil St.Clair
(Pictured in photo to the right), owner of Queen Right Colonies, who will be speaking on Successful Colony Management.
We will have bee yard sessions for which anyone entering will need face protection. This yearly event is a type of homecoming, where old friends get together and new friends get acquainted. Bring your family and friends and plan to spend the day with us and many beekeepers from all over the state of Ohio and surrounding areas.
Field Day is a rain or shine event. Lunch is served for a donation with all the proceeds going to the Lorain County Beekeepers Association. For more details of the event go to

Second Annual Northeast Ohio
Honeybee Conference

The Greater Cleveland Beekeepers Association (GCBA) will host their second annual Honeybee Conference and Field Event. The event is sponsored by GCBA, The Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds, and Queen Right Colonies. Featured speaker will be Dr. Jim Tew
(Pictured in photo to the right), Ohio State University, Dept. of Entomology. Dr. Tew’s studies focus on, pollination ecology of fruit and vegetables that employ honeybees and native bees as pollination agents. Long term focus on timing, location, and management of foraging populations inside and outside the target crop area. The topic for this year’s conference is "The value of urban beekeeping. Dr. Tew has been a major supporter of the State of Ohio’s beekeeping communities.
Other topics of the day will include Beekeeping 101, Biology, Nosema, Honeybee nutrition, and what to expect in the first year.
Field Events will include working a colony properly, use of a smoker, colony splits, and general hive observations. This event is open to the public.
Cost is $25 before April 21; $30 thereafter
