From time to time throughout the year we give tours and teach classes on beekeeping if your boy or girl scout, school group, church, 4-H or and organization would like to be given a tour or have a class room setting we would be happy to assist you in your education needs. We have been beekeeping for 40 years and have much experience in the education area of beekeeping. There is a minimal fee of $35.00 for classes to cover cost of handouts such as honey stixs, paper handouts and time.
Our Field Day is held the first Saturday in June and is open to the public, if you venture into the Bee Yard you will need face protection however. Over the years we have conducted classes in queen rearing, queen evaluation, race evaluation, and various types of foundation evaluation, swarm prevention, swarm retrieval, queen marking, looking for various diseases such as AFB and much, much more. Field Day has been on going for 16 years and has something for everyone beginner and veteran alike. We often have things for the children such as opening a small controllable colony of bees, candle making, etc; we always have a featured speaker speaking about current issues in beekeeping.
Field Day is family oriented and lunch is served for a donation with all proceeds going to the Lorain County Beekeepers Association.
