This is an unusual place is just one of the many comments made about QRC, we have heard “What do you do here? Is this a bee farm?” and many other such questions.  The most often asked question about the pigeons is “Are those doves?” and of course the answer is yes. Doves is a general description for a very large family of birds of which pigeons is just one and in the pigeon family there is probably more than 150 variations.  I have been a pigeon breeder for over 50 years and it is a hobby I really enjoy, watching an all-white flock of homing pigeons is breath taking even after all these years.  

We breed several different fancy birds and each has its own peculiarities Vienna Tumblers are about the smallest pigeon while English Carriers are about the tallest.  German Beauties are very tame, English Carriers are very nervous and aloof.  We produce the following breeds White Homers, Vienna Tumblers, English Carriers, Magpies, Damascene, Shielded Homer, English Barbs, German Beauty, Frillbacks, Ice Pigeon, Swallows, Archangel.    

Watching these magnificent birds go aloft in any number is a site to behold we watch them fly daily and never tire of the sight and have enjoyed many complements about their beauty. We do special event dove release whether it is for your wedding day or a special event like Fourth of July parade, opening day ceremonies, funeral services or for any special event. Actual bird release is subject to weather or any thing else that might endanger the birds from finding their way home. Actual cost depends on the number of birds to be released and distance to the event or any other special needs that may be required in the event. The base fee for a minimal bird release starts at $150.00.

Peacocks

Peacocks needless to say are very beautiful birds, we have recently purchased several emerald peacocks this is the green variety and are considered by many to be the most beautiful as well as temperamental of all peacocks to keep and breed.  If all proceeds as expected we will have chicks in the spring.

Zebu Cattle

Zebu Cattle are a new venture, we have a new bull calf this year and expect more calves next year.  They are a small breed and are not very winter hardy, and originate from India.

Shetland Sheep

Shetland Sheep are a very small friendly breed of sheep, are easy to manage breed and care for.  They make a great pet for the child because of their small size only about 18 inches.
